Preparation of total saponins from Panax japonicus and their protective effects on learning and memory ability of aging mice

This study aimed to prepare the total saponins from Panax japonicus (TSPJ), and investigate their protective effects on learning memory ability of aging mice induced by D-galactose. The TSPJ product with content 81.03% was obtained. Fifty were randomly divided into control, model, low-, middle- high-dose groups. D-galactose-induced model established in Then, groups treated 20, 40 80 mg/kg gavage, respectively, for 8 weeks. At end treatment, compared group, brain symptoms obviously moderated, step-down latency increased, frequency mistake decreased, index tissue SOD GSH-Px levels MDA level Na+-K+-ATPase Ca2+-Mg2+-ATPase activities increased. In conclusion, can reduce oxidative stress injury protect cell membrane transport capacity, thus improving mice.
